I was saddened to hear of the passing of John. John had been a good friend of mine since our days at Ridgeview Jr. High. I always saw him at our class reunions over the years and had a great time sharing what had been going on in our lives. Little did I know that seeing him at our 50th reunion would be the last time that I will ever see him again. He was very lucky to have had a wonderful loving marriage with his wife Carolyn. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Carolyn and their family. I thank God that I was able to have him for such a wonderful friend. May he rest in peace.

Like Jerry and anyone else who knew John, I was shocked and continue to be saddened by John's freakish death.  I was lucky enough to sit behind John in chemistry class.  He was sort of a quiet icon fellow student in my eyes.  He was always quiet, polite, super smart, well prepared, generous (especially in continuing to help me understand that subject!), clean, handsome all American good guy Irish looks.  I grieve for Carolyn and the whole Stewart family.  Damn it....this was a cruel event.....

I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear about John.  Besides high school, John and I were also roommates at UC Davis.  We had an off-campus apartment with two other aspiring engineers.  I remember riding our bikes to the Engineering Building like it was yesterday.  I remember John's favorite group was The Dillards, although I tried to get him interested in The Moody Blues; by the time we graduated, he admitted that he kinda liked some of the Moody Blues, and I kinda liked some of the Dillards.  I just saw John and Carolyn at our 50th reunion.  He told me about a multi-million dollar piping project for the City of Napa he had worked on and was clearly very proud of.  John was a great guy.  Never a disparging word, always upbeat, helpful, and a true friend.  I offer my deepest condolences to Carolyn and to John's family.

I just want to echo the wonderful sentiments and vast sadness, said so well in all the previous classmate posts.   Carolyn and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I was heartbroken when I heard of John's passing. We started school together back in 1956. What a wonderful man. We just reconnected in the past couple of years when he helped me with engineering in building my new house. We also found out we were both members of the local gun club and started to shoot together. I will miss him dearly. My thoughts and prayers go out to Carolyn and his family for this tragic loss. Rest well my friend. geo

John and I were neighbors and shared December birthdays. We met before starting school at Carneros-Las Amigas, attended Ridgeview and then Napa High. We visited briefly during our 50th reunion, and I last saw him in March, when he attended a memorial gathering for my father. We shared a few moments when I showed him a picture of his father, taken with my father and uncle during a deer hunting trip long ago.  I was sickened when I read of his tragic accident.  My deepest condolences to Carolyn and his family. Margie Matheson-Morin.
