Marsha Whitford

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to add my "THANKS"  to those of our class members who planned such a fantastic reunion party!!!   I had a marvelous time and especially enjoyed getting reaquainted with old friends.  The food was really good and the program Friday nite was great.  Denny, you are a great Master of Ceremony.   It was also nice getting to see some of our OLD teachers Saturday.  Thank you committee for all the hard work.  Now get started on next year's  get together!!!!

"Thank You", to all who worked so hard for making this Class Reunion a successful one, and what a success it was!

My husband and I enjoyed the delicious food but the fellowship was the "best".

Patty, please thank Ms. Graham for my hug. What a pleasure seeing my 1st grade teacher.

Hope the next reunion will not be too long away. I want to walk the stairs again and not have to take the elevator.

My blessings to "All" of the 1963 classmates until we meet again.

I hope all our classmates who live in Oklahoma have suffered no damage from the tornadoes that have swept the state these last two weeks. I have thought of each of you and your families and wish you safe. My prayers are with you all.

Thanks, Patty Graham, Janet Durr and others for asking about the welfare of those of us who are "enjoying springtime in Oklahoma ( an oximoran for some lately).  Those of us in Stillwater have been spared, so far, although we came close one day last week. Your thoughts of us have been appreciated. Please keep those who are facing real tragic situations in this state in your hearts.   Tom Keys

I missed the meeting on Saturday because of a "bug" my wife and I caught.  It  definitely was not because we did not enjoy Friday night.  We appreciate all of the work the committee put in this  reunion.  I was looking forward to meeting with everyone on saturday but we were both too sick.

I hope we do have another reunion in the future.  It was so good seeing and visiting with people you do have a  lot in common with.

I thoroughly enjoyed Friday night and hate I had to miss Saturday.

Thanks again...

Just a quick note to say Happy New Year to all my classmates.  I know it is too late to wish you a merry Christmas but I hope all of you had a blessed time with your kids and family.  I was just talking with Denny and discussing how much fun it is to be getting old (ha).  I know there are some of you who will say "I'm not getting older...I''m just getting better."  But I tend to be more of a realist. (I'm sure that is misspelled) You know you are getting old when one of the highlights of your week is to see in your inbox a note that one of your classmates has left a message in the Message Forum.  I don't care if it was someone who was best of friends or someone I hardly knew.  So just for me....Keep the little updates coming.  When I think of the blessings we have of technology it just boggles my mind.  My mother gave me Natchitoches Phone book for 1961.  I know most of you don't have one so I am going to send you a couple of pages you should find interesting.

Don't pay any attention to my little brother's writing of his name on the front.  Not bad writing for a 5 year old!  If the whole book is more than 1/8th inch thick, I'll eat it!!!

I cannot believe we had all those color options.  Did any of you have a turquoise phone.  I'll bet 80% of us had that old beige.

I personally cannot remember that 37 story skyscraper there in Natchitoches but there again I'm having trouble remembering lots of things from back then.

As I walked down memory lane through the white pages looking for old phone #'s it was hard to know for sure whose # belonged to whom (I'm sure that is not good grammar).  That is because I did not know most of your parents first names.  But I do remember the 7th from the top in the left hand column.  Not that I ever called her, but I still remember Jackie de Vargas and others coming by the "filling station" to say hi.  I thought she was one of the "prettiest/richest" girls I had ever known. I don't know if that was true or not but I thought so anyway....There I've said it and am sticking to it.

Well, enough for now.  bet no one got down this far in my note but if you did....Please forgive my spelling and know that I love you all.

Bob

thanks Bob! for putting that into words and for 'provoking' a response from another classmate.  I also really enjoy hearing from all and finding that we are mostly intact (normal, expected wear & tear) and keeping on, doing well.  We had/have a great class - what an amazing collection of personalities and good people.

LOVED your post, Bob!  Thanks for sharing your thoughts...and your phone book.  Guess what!  I had a blue princess telephone in my bedroom.  Don't remember if I had it before college or not.  Bet my mother still has it stored somewhere.  My Dad never threw anything away!  (I think that is one thing that really upsets me about the younger generations:  If we don't want it or need it  then throw it away!)  Love the phonebook cover (?) with the church advertisement on it!   Our Natchitoches Times still has a page every week that inclludes church times and activities on it.  Of course, now the church has to pay to  have it's name and activities listed every week.

Great to hear from you...and Guy!  Happy New Year to you both!

I love it!  My number is on that page...6883.  Out of all the telephone numbers I've had over 50 years, I remember 6883.  No area code, no prefix.  I didn't have a princess phone, just a black one centrally located..  If you wanted privacy you had to stretch the telephone cord across the hallway into a bedroom

When I moved back to Natchitoches almost 20 years ago to help care for my mother, her phone number 3386 became mine, and still is 60 + years later.  This certainly will make remembering the number easy as I get older and begin reverting back to my childhood (it's happening already).

Anyway - hope everyone has a good 2014!

Greetings from the frozen Midwest!  What a way to start 2014!  Temps have been as low as -18 with wind chills of -42!  That's not to mention the foot of snowfall.  We are hanging in there, though, with just a touch of cabin fever.  We went outside (briefly) and threw some hot water up in the air.  It became snow before it hit the ground!  Cool!

I would love to be a snowbird and fly south for the rest of the winter!  Brrrrrrr!

Snow in Natchitoches for the second time in a week.  It was a beautiful sight to see.
