Heather: I remember her as a person with a nice smile and a nice personality. She had a serene look about her. She was also tall and slender, and I remember thinking to myself , as I would watch her as she would stroll down the halls of LVR, that she reminded me of a model. Well, Heather, I feel sadness and shock to hear of your passing. You are missed. Rest in Peace.
Reading the Mountainer, LVR's Yearbook, 1964, Heather was a member of the Honours Club, Grade Eleven, Easter 1964. She was involved with several school sports. Heather was a member of the LVR Ski Club and Ski Team, the Grass Hockey Team, and the Bomberettes in 1963-1964.
One long hot summer day Heather and I and some others rode our bikes all the way to Balfour and back. She was adventurous. In our synchronized swim class we cut out petals from a shower curtain and sewed them onto our bathing suits for our costume in the BC swim competition finals. We came second. She was creative. In her work place they posted a sign on her office door: The Oracle. She was brilliant. I still think of her often. Gone too soon. With love and fond remembrance from Monica.
Heather... Why are beautiful people are taken way before their time.I for one will miss seeing your big smile this coming summer... You will be remembered in our prayers and a topic of discussions around all the fun we had as a group of kids looking to find our maturity in the early 60's , when we all meet this summer.
I remember Heather well. My biggest memory of her is when she had an epilectic fit in class. It was horrible. I seem to remember the teacher knew what to do and reacted quickly.
Monica mentions that Heather was adventurous, creative and brilliant, and she was all those things. We had the same music teacher, Mrs. Ferguson, and Heather brought her thoughtful and creative talents to music as well as her water ballet costume!
From time to time Heather and I seemed to cross paths in Vancouver. She was a fine athlete in Jr. High and at LVR. We happened to be skiing at Whistler the same weekend in the '60s during Whistler's infancy as a ski resort. My older brother Don was the adventurous skier in our family and he got me up on that hill on a weekend that turned out to be the coldest ski conditions I have ever encountered, at Whistler or wherever. Heather was freezing too, but with her pluck she tried a couple more of those long ski runs than I could take.
She loved golf too and played with a group of businesswomen for several years in Vancouver. So swimming, skiing, golf...Heather was good at them all.
And with all that creative and athletic ability, Heather was always still a level-headed realist. After her first surgery in, I believe her early 50s, she took early retirement because she had some effects from the surgery that caused some difficulties. She mentioned calmly that he was just happy to be on the winning side of the surgery because she had been given a low probability of success. She had many years after this, to golf and enjoy her many friends in the Okanagan and elsewhere.

She is very missed by many.
