I left home with Madonna Quillen (Home Ec teacher) right after graduation to begin studies at Morehead State University (and be a part-time babysitter to pay for my board).
I studied at MSU for two years and performed with the MSU marching band and symphony - what a great time!
I left in 1975 and married Randy (met him at MSU) who had gone into the military. We lived in Ft. Bragg, NC, for a short time then lived in Heidelberg, W. Germany.
From there Randy got out of the Army, returned to school at Eastern Kentucky University and we then moved to Paintsville, KY. After living there for 3 years, Ashland Coal transferred me to Huntington, WV. We've been in the Tri-State (Ashland, Huntington, Proctorville) area for the past 30 years. When Ashland Coal merged with Arch Mining and moved to St. Louis, MO, I stayed here and worked in economic development for 15 years. In 2008, I started working for St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV, and retired from there in March 2013. Randy works for Marathon Oil as a Safety Manager, and teaches OSHA courses for EKU and OU. Adam completed his Mechanical Engineering degree at University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH, is now working as an engineer, and married Jessica DeBrosse in September 2011. Jessica is a nurse at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, and is a true blessed addition to our family. We have a Maltipoo named Xena.
I've been active at my church with the choir for several years. Randy and Adam have traveled together to Guatemala on a mission trip. Adam has been going on mission trips to Portugal, Barbados and Guatemala since he was 15 years old. He's very active in Navigators (christian youth group) at Univ. of Cincinnati. I am blessed!
UPDATE: July 2015 Randy and I have moved to the Cincinnati, OH area - Amelia, Ohio. We have a six month old grandson named Micah. We decided it was time to move toward family instead of halfway between the Shaw and Jones families. Cincinnati won out due to our son, daughter-in-law and Micah living here. We're loving have relatives stop by to visit and eat. God is good!
