Sharon Diane Harlow Smith

I graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1970 with a degree in Business Administration and moved to Frankfort that same year. I did substitute teaching for two years and then took a position with Kentucky state government for the next 32 years, most of which were with the Kentucky State Police. I retired in 2003.
My husband, Doug, was a Kentucky State Police officer for ten years while finishing his bachelor's and master's degrees. He served as Deputy Secretary of the Kentucky Cabinet for Human Resources and as Director of Child Support Enforcement at the Fayette County Attorney's Office. He retired in 2005.
We enjoy traveling, especially cruising, riding our Harleys (I have a Heritage Softtail Classic and he has an Ultra), swimming, reading and attending all the grandchildrens' ballgames and activities. Doug is also an avid golfer.

Gosh, what fun we had at old F.N.H.S. The band trips, majorette camps, ballgames, sockhops, pep rallies, proms and especially the parties and slumber parties at the funeral home were the very best. Our Senior Trip was especially memorable because we placed a wreath on President John F. Kennedy's grave some five months after he was assassinated. Eddie Tillie always entertained us on the band bus as we sang our way around southeastern Kentucky. Selling ads for the yearbook and going to the post office for Mr. Reasor every day were great ways to get out of school! A lot of our class members attended Fleming-Neon from first or second grade until graduation so the friendships we forged have been for life. I wouldn't trade the days at F.N.H.S. for anything!
