Studied music performance, then graduated with degree in communications from University of Kentucky. Continued playing saxophone and piano. Member of UK Marching Band and Symphonic Orchestra for two years.
Began 25-year career as TV News Producer at the NBC affiliate in Lexington while still in college, then moved on to Louisville, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Tampa, Los Angeles, back to Atlanta, Dallas and most recently in Baton Rouge/New Orleans.
Highlight of career so far: spent three weeks in Japan producing Live Coverage of the 1998 Winter Olympics, while working at KCBS Television.
Later that year, traveled to Hawaii and to Europe for three weeks. '98 was an amazing year.
Currently ventured into freelance work in southeast Tennessee. Write jingle music and content for radio and TV commercials.
Won two Emmy Awards as producer of "Best Newscast" in Los Angeles area -- one in 1996, the second in 1998. The TV News Emmy Awards are presented by the same Academy as the Prime Time Emmy Awards - but the award ceremony is held at a different location.
Most recently, was also Managing Editor of a newspaper in Cleveland, Tennessee. I had a special column entitled "The Hollywood Hillbilly."
Had a lot of fun doing it.
Marriage and children have eluded me.
Currently helping my niece, Megan, (older brother Mark's daughter) make the final plans for her wedding on May 16.
Still a proud graduate of Fleming-Neon High School.
My blood still bleeds purple.
