I remember playing softball against Dee Ann in the summer leagues. She was a wonderful athlete and even better person. She had integrity and a calming spirit. She never engaged in the good-natured trash talking that took place between Tam and Pam Van Dorn and I. Though, I think she enjoyed listening to us. I can remember her smiling and shaking her head at our antics.

I wish I had known her better.

Knew Dee too. Not so much in the last years. We had a misunderstanding in the early 90s and we didn't get past it. Well, she did. I didn't. So I stayed away from her even after she reached out to me in '86. Seeing her w/out hair should have softened my heart.
It was Becky Baird who helped her Mom and Dad, Barbara and Benny, care for her at the last.
Dee was one of my first friends in life. I was six months older but she was always bigger. She was a good person and she knew she would grow old with Billy. Married in her Moms wedding gown in her parents living room. Ya just knew they would last forever
