Ok Jeff

1: Were not 18 anymore
2: Hangovers
3: We could be at the bar having fun and not getting hurt.

Those are the best reasons I can think of.

Hey Gang, remember to invite upper and lower classmen. They would have a great time.

3pm kickoff sounds good.

Anyone really good with a video camera? This event must be filmed. We need a camera person, commentators, and annalists. Any volunteers?

Morning all! All this reminiscing of the past has made me think of the song of the day. So today's song is "Wasted Years" by Iron Maiden.

I wanted to post this last week but couldn't figure out how to post videos. This is the greatest movie line ever...

See you all at the reunion. RIP Ronnie Raygun wish you were here.

Paul, that's odd. That doesn't describe me at all. I'm only dead-eyed and sluggish when I'm hung over from celebrating.

Seriously though, can we leave the politics off the board?

11/14/08 07:18 PM #827

Michael Thompson

Hey Jen......YES WE CAN.....leave the politics off the board.

Ok in the spirit of the Fairness Doctrine I will Censor my political coments.

Carl's house circa 4th or 5th grade. I remember crawling through a 3 story tree house, learning how to make cinnamon toast, and jogging w/ his dad up to Brandenburg.

Carl's hose circa 6th grade. Lighting the basement on fire playing with nail polish remover and a lighter.

Ok, for anyone going to see Sisters of Mercy. Go. But sadly, not for the Sisters. The opening band Hypernova is totally worth it. They're a bunch of kids from Iran, of all places, that are totally awesome. Can you imagine trying to start a band in a country in which not only is it illegal to even LISTEN to western music but deadly to try to play it? And to do it better than the band that you grew up emulating? They're awesome and I was glad to get to see them. If you're a fan of She wants Revenge, The Editors, or Interpol... you will love them. Or if you need an older reference, if you're a fan of Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, or Joy Division but want to wrock... you'll love them.

Oh and GO WINGS!

11/15/08 12:33 AM #833

Mary Franks

ha!! Jen, I have to laugh. I have no idea who ANY of those bands are! From the present OR the past! Musta had my head in the sand...or um...country music. Yes I was country, when country wasn't cool. LOL!

Kristine Boggess (Wargo)

I have been out of the loop... so, mike, my coach, what position do you want me to play? and what are our colors.

and is it still 5 at the lounge at the Book for drinks?

we have no kids that day or night so, i will be getting my drink on.. it has been awhile.

Sorry. I spoke out of turn. I just wanted to interject something from the past. See what happens when you drink beer and you think something is funny, and no one else does? Back to the game. Whoa-he-haw-haw

11/15/08 11:19 AM #836

Jennifer Schwab

Mary, it's likely that you probably have at least heard songs from some of the bands I mentioned but just didn't know who they were. So today's song of the day is by Joy Division. It's their 1980 hit "Love will tear us apart".

11/15/08 11:54 AM #837

Jennifer Schwab

Kevin - you weren't speaking out of turn. Those were some funny stories. Feel free to share more. I would have responded but I only jumped on last night for a few seconds.

Amy Busby (Prestridge)

Mary,
Don't feel bad. I'm in the same boat. I didn't recognize any of those names either.
Kevin,
Very funny references. And I love your profile info - very interesting!
Will you be able to make it to the reunion??

11/15/08 02:36 PM #839

Jennifer Schwab

Sorry Mary, I'm a huge music fan but country is the one genre I've never quite gotten into. Though stuff like Johnny Cash is cool. Just in case anyone was interested in checking out a couple of the bands that I mentioned, here's a few videos. Most of these bands were hugely influenced by bands like Joy Division, Echo & the Bunnymen, Sisters, and Bauhaus. And to some degree each band rips off the old sound (especially in the tone of the vocals) but I love them anyway. Edited to add: Language and/or imagery might not be kid safe. Sorry Joey. Editors "Munich" http://www.editorsofficial.co.uk Interpol "No I in Threesome" http://www.interpolnyc.com/ No I in Threesome

She wants Revenge "These Things" http://www.shewantsrevenge.com Hypernova "Fairy Tales That Don't Have Happy Endings" http://www.hypernova.com/

Jen,

I liked Editors, then I was listening to Hyper...whatever and it was OK until they dropped the "MF" bomb. I hope my son was paying more attention to the Wings.

11/15/08 03:22 PM #841

Jennifer Schwab

lol... sorry should have given you a warning. I don't have kids so I never think of that stuff. And what Wings game is he watching? I didn't think they were playing today. And if you're letting him watch the re-run of the Wings/Pens game from the other night, I think that's tantamount to child abuse. I'm still having nightmares from it.

Jen,

It was the re-run on NHL-Network. But we had to leave for a basketball game in the third with the Wings up 5-2

Heidi Gipprich (Baldwin!)

I love love love She Wants Revenge! Got to see them in Berlin 2 summers ago.

That Wings-Pens game reminded me to much of the stress I endured during the playoffs last year...
