I Graduated from Texas State in 2002. Yes, it took me that long. After that I joined the Marine Corps Reserve. Following my initial training, I entered graduate school at Texas State.

In March 2007 my unit got activated and got married because I thought I might die in Iraq. (Don't worry, I'm happy that we got married!) I spent 7 months in the Al Anbar province trying to kill IED emplacers. (Check out the video below.) It was there that I learned of Casey Kincheloe's death. Dealing with that grief all by myself was one of the roughest things I have ever experienced. I miss him every day.

But now I'm back and finishing my Master's degree. I should finish in May just in time for the next deployment to Afghanistan.

In high school Casey used to drive an old, beat-up, Ford LTD. He drove it like it was a sports car and insisted on spinning his tires at every opportunity.
Well, one day I watched him leave the school parking lot in hurry. He was turning left (before the road became one-way) as he floored tha gas pedal. Unexpectedly, his car spun 180 degrees and he wound up facing the school again. Without hesitation, he calmly drove back into the parking lot. The grin on his face was a mile wide...
