John DiLoreto Obituary, RUCKERSVILLE, VA
John Vincent DiLoreto, affectionately known as Sonny passed away after a courageous battle with brain cancer at the age of 74. He died peacefully at home in Ruckersville VA, where he lived with his loving partner Cynthia Manca.
John is survived by Cynthia, his children Lindsey, Brian, Spencer, Tim, Ashley and Brooke, and his grandchildren Malcolm, Calvin and Daphne. He is also survived by his sister Teresa (DiLoreto) Laska and his niece & nephew Mike & Lani Laska. John is preceded in death by his parents Vincent and Maria (Page) DiLoreto.
Born on February 15, 1950, in New Britain Ct, John grew up surrounded by a close-knit family. He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1968 and earned a degree in Engineering from Lowell Technical Institute in 1973.
John had a long and successful career in Chemical Engineering and even founded an organic sourdough bakery company Loafin Around in the 1990's. A lifelong baseball enthusiast, John played baseball or softball for over 60 consecutive seasons, always wearing the number 13. A die-hard Yankees fan, he was honored with the Hall of Fame award from the Charlottesville Senior Softball League on September 26, 2023.
John was also an avid numismatist, a passion he shared with his father and later with his sons and grandchildren. He loved to travel to Italy, and cherished his friendships he made through the Zuma Fraternity and the softball league.
John will be remembered for his strength, and sense of humor he shared with his family and friends. A celebration of John's life will be held at the Darden Town Park in Charlottesville VA. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at www.inmemoryofjohn.com.
John's genuine love for life will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and the many lives he touched.
