Keith Vitelli Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carlson Funeral Home on Aug. 10, 2024.

Keith M. Vitelli, 74, of Plainville, passed away Saturday July 27, 2024. A New Britain native all of his life, Keith was a graduate of Pulaski High School and Porter & Chester Institute. Keith went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army.

After his military service, Keith found his calling as a tool and gauge maker, dedicating his skills to local companies such as Alden Tool, Parker Hannifin, and C & A Machine. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in all he did.

Keith was a master craftsman and would spend hours in his workshop making custom cabinetry and furniture. He loved to golf and looked forward to playing as often as he could. He loved to play video poker at Mohegan Sun Casino and then have a burger at Bobby Flay's, or if he "won big," a steak at Michael Jordan's. On Thursday nights he could often be found playing cards at the New Britain Elks Lodge. Keith's greatest passion though was his love for the New York Giants. Sundays were his favorite as he watched golf, football and had pasta at his best friend, Kenny's house.

He is survived by his wife, Susan (Baxer) Vitelli; two daughters, Amy Galvin and her husband Eric of Southington, and Megan Carlson and her husband James of East Berlin; and four grandchildren, Abigail and Brady Galvin, and Madelyn and Bryce Carlson. Keith also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Michael Baxer, and his wife Linda; sister-in-law, Patty Baxer, and her husband Kurt Garrison; his aunt Joan Poirier; brother-in-law Paul Stone; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Keith was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Linda Stone.

Keith's friendships were a testament to his calm and likable nature, with many friends becoming like family, especially Kenny Garbellini, Silvia Rydecki and Silvia's family. Lastly, Keith lovingly called his grand dog, Olive, his "service dog" and cherished her regular visits; he was one of her most favorite people.

A Memorial Mass with military honors will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 11:30 am at St. Paul Church, 479 Alling Street, Kensington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donating to a local food pantry in your community.
