So beautiful, so kind, and such fun, all in one. Mae was a delight to know. Her mother, one of the most gentle people imaginable, worked with my mother when my mom was teaching at West School. The two moms had quite a few moments of laughter and angst, as they shared stories about Mae and me and our "High School problems". I'll never know what they said and what secrets of ours came out in West School,but I do remember Mae and I sharing ideas about just what in the world those two moms could have been talking about.

I remember her saying that we should start "sharing" West School "problems" and how hilarious I found that concept!! That we could be gossiping about them had never entered my mind...but not so Mae... she was armed and dangerous! We laughed so hard about the idea of the mothers being horrified, that it became a bond between us that lasted all through school. We had but to look at one another while passing in the halls or the "caf" to break out in the giggles. So sweet, but such a serious wit hiding behind that calm exterior!
