Reeves Callaway

He was on that short list of folks who served by example, not decree, and earned my admiration at a very formative juncture. As leader of our Senior Class play he somehow guided us, according to our individual strengths and egos, to a union whose chemistry shone through our ineptness. I remember telling him that I wanted to be an actor based on my experience with his coaching.  I also remember that he said, as he wryly smiled his St Clairian smile, "...take it a step at a time, Reeves..."

I loved Jim, and I loved his role in my life.  Thank you, Mr. St Clair.

Thank you, Reeves, aka Henry Higgens, for sharing your thoughts about my favorite teacher, Jim St. Clair.  He was a mentor who inspired a love of learning in me and I'm sure every student who knew him.

He was one special person. He never left my thoughts and I always held him up to others as the teacher who had the most profound affect on me! Why else would I have taken 4 years of Latin in HS!?🤪

The photos of greater Mabou are a beautiful reminder of many summers I spent in Cape Breton.  The photos from Mac Rumsey's land looking down on the Coalmine's beaches still look the same as they did 50 years ago.

Thank you for posting the YouTube link to Jim's 5/18 service, Keith.  There is some wonderful video at the 1:14:55 point with Jim talking about the history of his family's land in Nova Scotia.

Thank you, Sandy and Keith, for giving us ways to see Jim St Clair's memorial service.  I watched it on the 19th via Zoom and then watched parts of it again today including the wonderful video of Jim walking through the woods and talking about family history.  He was a kind, compassionate person, teacher and mentor, and I appreciate that I knew him.
