FRIDAY NIGHT : Imagine walking into the lobby of a newly renovated hotel, hearing the beat of Jeff Fuller' bossa nova band, Sambelezaa , and getting a Margarita handed to you as you begin to recognize former classmates, now aged to perfection. That’s the scene that will await you on Friday night, October 11, 2013 as you step into a three-day reunion of the New Canaan High School Class of 1963! Enjoy a variety of Mexican appetizers as you revive memories and catch up with folks on the last 50 years.
SATURDAY: Join classmates and their spouses on Saturday, October 12 for a Photo Scavenger Hunt through New Canaan. Your memory of the town will help your team take photos according to the clues you’re given. What a great way to be with friends and help our spouses be part of the action! All photos will be shared with the entire group at the dinner dance Saturday evening.
SATURDAY NIGHT: We’re long past the days of close dancing at the Canteen, long past the sock hops and proms. We’re old enough now for a sophisticated dinner and dance with our spouses and friends to the tunes of the era that a DJ spins for us. Our moves will be captured in candid shots and, of course, that group photo for us to purchase later. No drinking and driving on Saturday night, October 12 as we’re all staying at the Sheraton. Your tickets will be handed out in the lobby beginning at 5:00 PM; dinner begins at 6:30. Anyone up for an all-nighter and breakfast at Howard Johnsons?
SUNDAY: We’ll have Sunday morning to recover before we meet again at the New Canaan Nature Center, founded when we were in high school, on Oenoke Ridge. We’ll have an informal lunch buffet set up inside, just in case the weather is bad, but we’re hoping for a spectacular fall day. We’ll be able to walk the two miles of trails, holding those special conversations about what life is all about while enjoying the Center’s diverse habitats—wet and dry meadows and woodlands, two ponds, dense thickets, an old orchard and a cattail marsh—as well as the arboretum and a variety of gardens. Most of us will say our goodbyes here and hopefully keep in touch better than we have over the last 50 years!
