
Darline M. Kane (Jones), age 40, of New Castle, DE, died suddenly on Friday, April 9, 2010, at Christiana Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
A native Delawarean, Darline was born in Wilmington on February 21, 1970. She was a graduate of William Penn High School and later earned her bachelor's degree in education from Wilmington University and her master's degree in education from Grand Canyon University. During her 12-year career as an educator, she most recently taught kindergarten students at West Park Elementary in Newark.
Darline was a longtime member of Christ Episcopal Church in Delaware City and a former Girl Scout leader for Troop #42 in Bear. She was a motorcycle enthusiast who loved riding. She was also a lover of the Humpback Whale. Darline enjoyed classic rock music, going to concerts, and visiting New York City, but teaching children brought her the greatest joy. She will be remembered as a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by her children, Ashley M. Kane, Amanda M. Kane, and Austin M. Kane, all at home; mother, Carol Jewell Schofield of Delaware City; father, Wayne E. Jones, Sr. and his wife, Joanna, of New Castle; brothers, Wayne E. Jones, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of Townsend; and David W. Jones and his wife, Michelle, of Newark; sisters, Florence A. Smith and her husband, Will, of New Castle; and Andrea Agnew of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon, on Friday, April 16, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where a visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
