Tom Rydell, age 65, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024 after a battle with Progressive Supraneuclear Palsy.

Born in Elgin, IL on October 29, 1958, Tom was the second of four sons born to Roger Rydell and the late Marge Rydell. 

He is survived by his former wife Roseann of 32 years, son Benjamin Rydell (wife Kate), daughter Antionette Rydell McDonald (husband Ryan), 2 grandsons, his father Roger, and his three brothers.

Tom served on the USCGC Dauntless (Miami, FL), commanded USCGC Point Steele (Fort Myers, FL), served at the PACAREA Commend Center (Alameda, CA), and as XO of the USCGC Blackhaw (San Francisco, CA) before separating from the Coast Guard in 1989 to attend Graduate School at Stanford University.

After obtaining an MBA from Stanford, Tom worked for Uniform Printing and Quantum, before becoming a Financial Advisor for UBS, Morgan Stanley, and Royal Alliance Associates. 

While at the Academy, Tom was captain of the CGA Gymnastics Team his first-class year, where he specialized on the pommel horse.  He also served as photographer and assistant editor for the Tide Rips 

A Celebration of Life was held at the Oro Valley Country Club in Tucson, AZ on September 23, 2024.  A military internment was held at the Arizona Veterans Cemetery in Marana, AZ on Tuesday, September24, 2024.
