After High School I tried my hand at professional recliner. When I eventually discovered that it was a career choice that I'd actually made up after 7 shots of Jaegermeister and that it offered no health plan or 401k, I decided to get a liberal arts degree...in hindsight, I should've stayed on the couch.
After getting a B.A. in English, I wrote for various small newspapers before getting a job at a Law Publishing firm as an associate editor. I quickly realized that "associate editor" actually meant "Dickensian Sweat Shop Worker". Long hours spent trying to decipher boating laws is something I don't recommend for anyone with an attention span longer than that of a goldfish.
Finally, I jumped ship to IT and ended up climbing the ladder at various consulting companies before ending up in Chicago. Now I get to spend my days thanking the local government for outlawing handguns within city limits, marveling at the blase attitude of Chicago folks when it comes to political corruption, and trying to figure out why my neighbor thinks I speak Spanish whenever he sees me.
