Brad Thomas

Let's use this area for communication of ideas for our reunion and other message threads.

I just heard from someone coming in from out of state. They are already planning on being here the weekend of June 27.

Brad been working a little on classmates addresses. I've also had lots of input from classmates still living in and or around New Sharon yet, most of them are very excited about the 20 years. I've talked to a lot of them about just getting together and meeting in New Sharon at Scooter's. They have good food and entertainmet. Everyone I've talked to loved the idea. Not sure what you had in mind but let me know. Some address I haven't got are:Jennifer Pearce Stokes, Deena Niles Brown, Marlene Guerts, Coral Burggraaf, and Roxanne Lane Fox. I think everyone else is accounted for. Diane

Jennifer Pearce is on Facebook, so that's easy. Roxanne used to live here in Ankeny, but I don't think she does anymore - I'll check into it. Deena will be easy to track down as well. I am in contact with her dad periodically. I don't really have anything in mind for the reunion. I'd like to do something that everyone will want to come to. Is Scooters that new grill your own steak place in New Sharon? Do they have a party room?

I had Coral B's e-mail address as I see her sometimes in Wal-Mart in Grinnell. She works there. So, I e-mailed her the web-site as well as Deena. This will be fun to catch up with everybody and see photos!

The end of June would be great. If no one has info for Marlene I can probably track it down. I like the idea of getting together at Scooter's.

I think it would be really nice if we could accomodate any classmates out of state that might be coming back on a certain weekend. In saying that, June works for me also. I'm very flexible since I'm in the area.

I got Marlene's address today from her mom and also gave her the web site for her to pass on to Marlene.

End of June works for me as well. Will be nice to see all who come.

I think Scooter's is a great idea as well. There is not a party room but tables can be reserved. There is a wide variety of food and lots of room. The grill your own is not in place as of now and may not be.

Brad and other classmates,
You mentioned the Class of '89 Prophecy. I was looking through my Senior book and found all 4 Hawkeyes from our Senior year. In them I found the Class Prophecy, Senior Predictions 30 years later and Senior Will. Do you remember the Senior Will? An example in here; We, Brad Thomas, Lance Dahm and Shawn LaRue, will our superior accounting knowledge to any Accounting I student worthy of it. These are really funny! Another one; We, the 26 seniors, will our ability to all be sick on the same day to the class of 1990. I will make some copies for our reunion. I might also print some of the pictures from my book. I really got a kick out of the K-6th grade pictures.

Brad, excellent job on the web site!!! Kudos! It's fun to be in contact with everyone. I'm looking forward to getting together with everyone. The end of June is fine with me. Is Scooter's family-friendly?

KR gave me the slides from the media presentation our senior year if we want to use them. Angie

That would be great to have the slide show going. It was great for me to go through my memory books and seeing the things you don't think about until you look through this stuff.

Anyone track down Marlene or Roxanne yet?

03/04/09 06:02 PM #17

Diane Stouwie (Groves)

I talked to Ellen (Marlene's mom on 2-23-09) and got her mailing address and also gave her mother the website. Next time I go to Walmart I will try to catch Roxanne's mom and get info. I have been trying to give everyone that is still around New Sharon or their parents the website and will until everyone know's of it. Some of our classmates may not have computer's or internet. Yes believe it or not but I know of a few. I have mailing addresses on almost everyone, so if we need to we could drop them a note in the mail.

Have we come up with a plan for the reunion?

03/20/09 04:37 PM #19

Deena Niles (Brown)

Are we bringing our kiddos?

03/22/09 05:49 PM #20

Diane Stouwie (Groves)

I think we need a response on those who would like to bring your kids. Maybe we can do something at lunch time for those wishing to bring your kids and something else in the evening for those who don't wish to include the kids. Doesn't matter to me either way, just need to know what everyone wants to do. There is still classmates that do not have children, so don't want to leave anyone out either way. Since it's 20 years I would just like to have a good turn out. It was asked if Scooter's is family friendly? I would say so but I don't have any issues with taking my child into a bar & grill. I probably wouldn't let my child stay past 8 o'clock on a Friday or Saturday night. So we just need some feedback on ideas. June will be here to soon. My mom always told me that as you get older time goes bye much faster, well she was right!!!!!

03/23/09 06:42 PM #21

Marcia Wanders (Rodibaugh)

I agree with Diane on Scooter's being family friendly for a short time in the evening. It might depend on how long you want to stay. If you want to see everybody and eat dinner and then leave - I would say bringing your kids is fine. If you want to stay past 8:00 or so and have a few drinks and/or listen to music, etc - you might not want to bring kids. I probably won't bring my kids to Scooter's. I want to visit with everybody and have a good time. The boys would occupy too much of my time and would get bored easily. My thoughts...

Noon - 2pm in the park. Bring your own picnic.
6 - ??? at Scooters.

How does that sound?

THIS IS NOT SET IN CONCRETE!

Wendi Dahm (Criswell)

Sounds good. I just need to know when the date is set. The weekend of the 27th I work 48 hours and need to accumlate time off. Lets figure this thing out, it will be great to see everyone after so many years.

03/29/09 10:16 PM #24

Dean Chandler

When a date is set, if we have a lunch potluck during the daytime, we could look at renting the McVay or city park bldg if we need an inside place with plenty of room for visiting and plenty of table seating. Might be nice to have an inside location in case it rains...darn Iowa summers!

04/09/09 12:04 AM #25

Brad Thomas

Great idea, Dean! Any idea what those facilities rent for? The park building might be better since people will be bringing their kiddos. You wanna take the lead on this?

04/09/09 07:22 AM #26

Dean Chandler

You bet. Kari said she'll call Renee and Diane. Both buildings are right there by the park...so either one will be fine. We'll get back to you.
