After graduating from DMLHS I attended DMLC to become a teacher. At the beginning of my senior year I took an emergency call to teach grades five and six at Zion Lutheran School in Crete, Illinois. I returned to New Ulm and graduated with the DMLC class of 1968.

My first call was to St. John's Lutheran School in Rural Goodhue, Minnesota. For the past forty years I have taught various combinations of grades kindergarten through sixth grade at St. John's.

The fall of 2007 I began teaching half time; grades one and two and music. St John's is adding a 3 year old pre-kindergarten this fall. Plans are for me to add these two mornings to my half-time schedule.

Summers of the first teaching years were spent traveling and with family and friends. From 1979 to 1994 I spent a part of every summer in Boston as a nanny for my nephews Oliver and Nicholas.

In August of 1994 I married Duane Jonas. That year he changed occupations from dairy farmer to homeowners and crop insurance agent. This year he sold his insurance agency but continues to sell farm seeds for several companies. I had taught his 3 children at St. John's. Now we have five grandchildren from toddler to high school. Violin and dance recitals, school plays and concerts, various sporting events and other grandchildren events fill our schedule. School and church activities are also a big part of our lives. During the summer we are often driving the red '68 Buick convertible to transport Goodhue Festival royalty in the various local parades or out for a drive with friends.

My life has been blessed with good friends and family. I look forward to seeing all of you at the reunion and reading your life stories.
