Kathleen Koch Walz

Dale Walz and I (Kathy Koch) were married shortly after graduating from D.M.L.C. Dale’s assignment on call day was to St. John’s in Waterloo, WI. where he taught 7th grade and coached all sports. I received a call to teach 2nd grade and coach girl’s basketball at Zion in Columbus, WI. I taught at Zion until our daughter was born in 1969.

After teaching in Waterloo for 6 years, Dale was called to Lakeside Lutheran in Lake Mills, WI. To be the Athletic Director, teach Phy. Ed, Algebra and coach boy’s basketball and baseball. During our 14 years in Lake Mills, I was a “stay at home” mom to our 5 children. I also dabbled in selling crafts, rummaging and refinishing furniture. Dale and I really enjoyed our time spent in Lake Mills. We made lifelong friendships there and it was great raising our family in the small town environment.
