My dreams came true! I always wanted to be a teacher and to serve God in full time Christian service. I married David between our junior and senior years at Asbury College in Kentucky - 1967. After graduation in '68, David entered Asbury Seminary and I began teaching. Later we pastored and I taught in Cincinnati, Amanda, and Rockford, Ohio. In 1987 we returned to Newark and on to Buckeye Lake in 1993 when David began pastoring 1st Community Church on St. Rt. 79. We are starting our 17th year here and loving it every day.
Our daughter Ruth has a beautiful red-haired little girl, Lydia, who will be starting kindergarten at Cherry Valley this year. Our son David lives in Hebron with his wife Brandy and their three - David William, Sarah Nicole, and Joshua Paul. Next son, Jonathan, lives in Newark with his wife, Kristy. They are planning to move to Ill. soon with State Farm - breaking our hearts! Finally Aaron lives in Newark and has been playing for several years with the rock band, Moniker. He is soon contemplating marriage and returning to OSU to finish as a teacher of English lit.
Our lives have been unremarkable except that we are all well and healthy. That is the best I could ever ask for. David and I love to read and study. When we vacation, we take books and read and talk and talk and talk. Neither of us care to travel so we spend a lot of time up in Amish country in Holmes county where it's quiet and we can study undisturbed.
I'm literacy coordinator for intermediate grades at Carson Elementary on East Main Street. Hopefully I will retire in 3 years with 35 years experience.
David plans to retire at the same time. We haven't decided where we want to live yet, but it won't be far from our children and grandchildren
Today I sat with my yearbook and looked up all the classmates who have died since 1964. I was shocked at the number and sadden by the loss of those young, beautiful faces. God bless all of you. I pray your futures will be bright and happy.
