Newark High School
Class Of 1966

"Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget"

One of our fellow classmates has published a new book.  It can't be summarized any better than Dianne has done below:

NHS Class of ’66--

I’m pleased to announce that at 72 years of age, I have become an author. I’ve been a librarian half of my life, but never thought I would write a book.  I was asked by the Friends of Sullivan to write a book for children about the Louis Sullivan Building in Newark and the architect who created our jewel box bank, one of eight located in the Midwest.  I spent a year and a half writing and revising the book with the help of a local publisher, Wendy Hollinger, of PhoenixGraphix in Granville.  With the help of several photographers all over the country and a local artist, Lizz Beck, of Alexandria, I created a book for children and adults to share across the generations.  I’m sure when you read the book, you’ll feel that it is very familiar.  After all, those of us in the Newark High School class of 1966 share the same childhood experiences in our hometown.  Whether it’s buying charms for your bracelet at Symon’s BEST Jewelry or waiting for the city bus on the corner of Main and Third, slipping and sliding on the Arcade floor or sipping sodas at the Sparta, you will be transported back to another time—a time you will want to share with your children and grandchildren.
