
Thomas A. Coakley, 63, beloved husband of Leslie Coakley, died suddenly, Saturday, August 25, 2012 on Fripp Island, SC.
A native of Newark, OH, Tom was a son of the late Forrest Eugene and Martha Bringardner Coakley. He graduated from The University of Florida in 1969 with a B.S. in chemistry and worked as a chemist for Owens Corning Fiberglass for 35 years until retiring in 2004. After retirement he was a consultant for Advance Glass Fiber Yarns for several years.
Tom was a very active member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church twice serving as an elder, he also served on the membership and finance committee, was a choir member, Sunday School Teacher, Stephen Ministry leader, Bethel Teacher and served as a Pulpit Assistant.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Leslie; include a daughter, Laura Coakley and her fiancé, Ron Patton; a son, Tim Coakley and his wife, Tracy; and two grandchildren, Rachael and Chase Coakley, all of Aiken; also surviving are his step-mother, Eileen Coakley; and two sisters, Nancy Marmie and Sally Coakley, all of Newark, OH.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 1PM at South Aiken Presbyterian Church with The Reverend Dr. Christopher Crotwell officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the church gymnasium.
