Beth Copeland (Crist)

She was devoted to our class. Worked tirelessly on every reunion. A wonderful friend & wife. She plowed through many health issues and I never heard her complain once.

I'll miss her very much. heart sad

Jan and I grew up together in the same neighborhood with tons of other kids, many members of our class. She was always a great friend and she knew everyone (and everything going on) in this town! We are going to miss her.

Jan and I met in the 5th grade at Cherry Valley Elementary and became immediate friends. Our friendship continued throughout our school years to the present. Although my husband Vaun and I married and left Newark shortly after high school, Jan and I always kept in touch. I received Christmas cards from her every year, always with a short, sweet message. When visiting Newark, Jan always set aside time to have lunch with me and "catch up". No matter what she was enduring, she kept her smile and remained positive. She was a dear person and friend. My heart goes out to her loving hubby Mike and to her family.

Jan and I met in first grade at Cherry Valley. She was just ahead of me in line when we received our polio vaccine in Miss Africa's class. We were both shocked when one of the girls fainted. Jan's mother was our Girl Scout leader.  We moved from Newark many decades ago, but when I would see Jan at reunions, she reminded me so much of her mother. Both were interesting, sweet, always smiling women. Both are in my memory forever.

In memory of Janis. We were not close friends but I found her to be a kind sweet personality. My prayers are with her and her husband. We met at Cherry Valley Elementary.

Janis was such an awesome person. Always helping everyone. I always enjoyed being with her and loved talking to her. I was glad to be able to fly up for our 56 year reunion. I always asked her how she was doing and loved her positive attitude. My thoughts go out to her husband Mike. She will be missed. Rip in peace Janis.

I grew up and went all the way through school with her. We were good friends and very sad to hear of her passing. Prayer to the family and may she rest in peace!

I remember Jan well and was so sorry to hear of her passing.  We went to school together from Cherry Valley to Newark Senior High, until my family moved to California.  I recall her as being a very kind and caring person.  I am sure she will be greatly missed by her friends and loved ones.

Oh I am so sorry to hear this. I went to Cherry Valley and all the way through Newark High with Jan. She was a good friend and always so helpful. She worked on our class reunions and tried to keep in touch with everyone. She will be missed by many.
