 A memorial service for Michael A. Hopper will be held 1:30 P.M. Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 North 21st Street, Newark.

Mr. Hopper, age 63 passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at The Ohio State University Medical Center. He was born June 22, 1948 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was a 1966 graduate of Newark High School and attended The Ohio State University. Michael retired from C-TEC in 2004 where he taught welding and was currently an adult education instructor. His community interests included membership in Land of Legend Barbershop Chorus, Land of Legend Pool League, a volunteer at the Weathervane Playhouse, the American Welding Society, Elk's Lodge and was a founding member of the Northfork Rounders with his best friend Les Powers. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Michael is survived by his loving wife Cherisse (Barth) Hopper; sons Patrick (Robin Winegardner) Hopper of Newark and Matthew Hopper of Columbus; granddaughters Lauren and Allison; siblings and step-siblings Gary (Joanne) Montalbano, Paula (Bob) Lariosa, Anita (Bill) Hayes all of New York, Misty (Tony) Van Pelt, Marcie Colangelo, Tamer (Daryle) Rousseau, Carl (Kristie) Roberts, Darlene (Howard Fuller) Cunningham, Tina (Gene) Keyes, Debbie Richards, David (Mary) Keeran, Larry (Charlene) Keeran; step-mother Marlene Hopper of Newark; mother-in-law Zelma Barth of Reynoldsburg; ex-wife Sue Hopper; aunts and uncles June Pennington, Marion (Barbara) Hopper and Mabel (Earl) Johnson as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

In addition to his parents Adrian and Lillian Hopper, step-mother Betty Hopper; father-in-law Richard Barth preceded Michael in death.

So sorry to read this, my condolences to Cherisse, he was an old friend of mine and we used to have a great time hanging out at his house and with the band he was in back then.
