Thomas Kuninger

A private family gathering celebrating the life of Thomas R. "Tom" Kuninger, age 67, of Newark, will be held on Tuesday, December 29, at Newark Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Rick Rintamaa officiating.

Tom passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born October 20, 1948 in Newark, Ohio to the late Robert L. and Inez L. (Hitt) Kuninger.

Tom had worked at Owens-Corning for over thirty-seven years as a journeyman pipe fitter retiring in 2003. He enjoyed golfing, traveling and NASCAR. Tom was a 1966 graduate of Newark High School and a life member of VFW Post #1060 in Newark.

Tom was a proud Vietnam War Veteran who served two tours with The United States Air Force from April 1968 to April 1972.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diana L. (Waters) Kuninger; a daughter, Tammy L. (Kevin) Henry of Newark; four grandchildren, Bradley and Lane Hardesty, Dillon Johnson and Xavier Henry; a sister, Judy E. (Allen) Francis of Newark; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Foundation of Hospice of Central Ohio, Post Office Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058, The Medical Loan Closet of Central Christian Church or to the Licking County Aging Program.

I ran into Tom by chance in 1970 at Tan Son Nhut AB in Viet Nam. So sorry to see so many of our classmates pass on to God eternal. RIP Thomas and God Bless.
