NEWARK: A Funeral Mass for George W. McAlpine, 64, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 26, 2012 with Fr. Jonathan Wilson officiating. Inurnment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Calling Hours will be held from 5-9 P. M., Friday, September 21, 2012 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark.

George, a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, with the comfort of his family by his side. He was born in Newark on April 23, 1948 to the late George W. and Martha (Jones) McAlpine.

George was a
United States Marine Corp Vietnam Veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was employed by Bionetis where he worked as a transportation specialist for many years.

As an avid sports enthusiast, George dedicated many years to Mound City Baseball, serving as coach, umpire, and commissioner.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Connie (Ryan) McAlpine, of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Cindy McAlpine; his daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Ron Cramer, all of Newark; his grandchildren, Ronnie, Conner, Emily, and Allyson; his sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Mike Bogulaski of Medical Lake, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his grandson, Jordan; and his infant brother, Larry McAlpine.
