A funeral service for Stephen Douglas Smith, 69, of Newark, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26th, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church, 65 N. 3rd St. Newark, with Rev. Steven Brand officiating.
Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, on Friday May 25, 2018, at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, in Newark.
Stephen, a retired electrical engineer for Khulman, passed away May 16, 2018, at his residence. He was born August 23, 1948, in Newark, to the late Floyd Edward Smith and Eleanor Dolores (Price) Smith Pound.
Stephen was a 1966 graduate of Newark High School, and a 1972 graduate of OSU where he received his master’s in electrical engineering.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Gideon International.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years and 11 months, Linda L (Belt) Smith; children, Adrian Smith and Andrea L. Smith both of Newark, and Aaron D. (Megan) Smith of Texas, and grandchildren, Zane D. Smith and Julian S. Smith both of Texas.

I am sadened to hear of Steve's passing. I was glad I got to speak with him at the last reunion. I remember going to the OSU branch with Steve in 1967-68 when it was held in the NHS buildings. THe Physics professor they sent us from the Tech Center was a tough old bird. It made 2nd year classes on campus much easier. My wife Karen and I send our condolences to his wife Linda. I hope the passage of time will make your loss more bearable.
