Sarah Higgins VIEW PROFILE

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Sarah Elizabeth Thompson, 66, of Thornville, will be held at First Community Church, Buckeye Lake, on Friday January 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with her Pastor, Kevin Blade as celebrant. Private family inurnment will follow later at Fairmount Cemetery, Jacksontown.

Sarah died early Monday evening, January 5, 2015, in Newark following a brief illness. She was born February 18, 1948 in Mt. Morris, PA., the daughter of the late John and Sarah Tennant Higgins. She was a graduate of Central Ohio Technical College, and worked for the Boeing Corporation.

Sarah was an active member of the First Community Church at Buckeye Lake, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and arranging flowers, which she did for the church as well.

She is survived by her loving family, her husband, George, whom she married on September 26, 1970; two daughters, Amy (Keith) Thornley of Cincinnati and Christy (John) Pryor of Durham, North Carolina; her sisters and brothers Philip (Margaret) Higgins, Laura Petit, Arthur (Mary Ann) Higgins, Lucy (Robert) Wilson, John (Demaris) Higgins, Mary (Douglas) Ogawa; along with sister-in-law, Paula Higgins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers Rose Tennant, Hattie Foley, John David, Frank, William and Clyde Higgins.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Hebron home of The HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 108 N 7th Street in Hebron.

Memorials may be directed to the First Community Church in her memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
