A funeral service for Daniel Joseph Andrews, age 65, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 18, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Kristin Santiago officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens where military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Mr. Andrews died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). He was born December 3, 1944 in Newark, Ohio to the late Charles Andrews and Thelma (Skinner) Andrews Edgerley.
Mr. Andrews was a 1965 graduate of Newark High School and served in the United States Marine Corps. He retired in 1985 from Owens Corning Fiberglas. Mr. Andrews was a lifetime member of the Druids and the American Legion Post #85 where he served as the commander for two terms. He was also a member of 40 and 8 and the Newark Eagles.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Bernita Ann (McInturf) Andrews, whom he married July 29, 1972; and by a son, Eli Joseph (Lisa) Andrews of Newark; a daughter, Natasha Renee Andrews (Michael Kerr) of Newark; three grandsons; three granddaughters; brother, Charles "Sonny" (Canny) Andrews of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sister, Nancy Edgerley Kraning of Newark; sister-in-law, Deeanna Andrews of Bremen; special aunt, Ruth Livingston of Newark; step-mother, Edna Andrews Love of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenny, Johnny, Paul and Billy Andrews.
Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, at the funeral home, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
