Charles William Harner Obituary

Charles William Harner, age 76, of Mount Vernon passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, at his home.

He was born on September 27, 1947, in Newark, Ohio to the late Charles and Julie (Nutter) Harner. Charles was a graduate of Newark High School and Miami University. He was employed as a Mechanical Engineer at AK Steel for over 43 years. After retirement, Charles worked in the heating and cooling industry and retired for the second time. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, of over 15 years, Geraldine (Weaver) Harner; his son William Harner; his daughter Katherine Harner; three grandchildren, Paisley, Anabell, and Savannah; his sister Susan Troyer; and his nieces Nannette Bell and Julie Courson.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents.

In keeping with Charles’ wishes, there will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private graveside service at Welsh Hills Cemetery in Newark at a later date.
