E. Jane Williams, PhD, 1947-2011, loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, and Educational Researcher and artist, died peacefully at the Kobacker House in Columbus, OH on May 7, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer. She left that position to do research on the effectiveness of various methods used to teach children how to read at Ohio State. She was also an advisor to other Doctoral Degree candidates. Among her many educational accomplishments was her long standing commitment to The Mid-Western Educational Research Association (MWERA) where she served as Vice President and then President from 1999-2002, and brought their annual meeting to Columbus where it now meets every other year. She retired as a reading researcher in 2003. Upon retirement, she began a serious and rewarding study of oil painting and in recent years has had the honor of exhibiting a number of her paintings in local galleries. Jane was an avid bicyclist and Columbus Blue Jackets fan. She touched many lives and deeply loved her family and friends and was always unselfish at putting them first and doing anything she could to help them. She is survived by her loving friend and partner John Kennedy, brothers Chuck and Don and his wife Rita, nephews Tracy and his wife Tammy and Josh and his wife Allie, great nephews RJ, Charlie, and Josiah, great nieces Bianca, Jazmine, and Trinity, cousins Jane, Mary, Tracy, Walt, Karen, Roger, Bob, Tom, Nancy, and their families, and many close friends.
