A memorial service celebrating the Christian home going of James William "Jim" Bope will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at 3pm at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home. Pastor Jeff Gill will officiate. Family and friends may call from 1pm until the time of the service at 3pm at the funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, in Newark. The Licking County Veterans Alliance will present Military Funeral Honors at the funeral home.
Jim passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015, at the Knox Community Hospital, in Mount Vernon, with his beloved wife and son by his side. He was born March 11, 1947, in Newark, a son of the late John William Bope and Ruth Clare (Campbell) Bope who survives, of Newark. Jim attended OSU and then served in the US Army from 1967- 1969. On March 18, 1967, he married Vickie L. (Wolfe) Bope. He had worked at Suburban Motor Freight and for 31 years, worked at Kaiser Aluminum in Sherman, Texas and at the Newark Works. Jim retired as vice president of Ohio Valley Aluminum. Jim loved basketball, the Dallas Cowboys, cars, his dogs, boating, working out and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Central Christian Church.
Jim's friendly personality made it easy for him to make friends and more importantly, share his deep Christian faith. His faith was demonstrated every day, with everyone he met. Helping others was an important function of his dedication to Christ.
Surviving in addition to his wife Vickie and his mother Ruth, are his two sons, Heath R. (Jenifer) Bope of Alexandria, Virginia and Chad W. (Christina) Bope of The Colony, Texas; five grandchildren, Sydney Ann Bope, Tyson William Bope, Noah William-Thomas Bope, Hudson William Bope and Lukas Bope and his beloved dog "Buster" and cat "Ashes".
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to all of Jim's friends for their love, support and understanding during the past few years.
