SMITH Philip Lee Smith. A funeral service for Philip Lee Smith, age 63, of Newark, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2007, at the Christian Apostolic Church Chapel, 22 North 23rd Street, Newark, with Rev. Keith Sjostrand officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mr. Smith died September 5, 2007, at his residence. He was born August 30, 1944, in Newark, Ohio to the late Paul E. and Elsie Louise (Wolfe) Smith. Mr. Smith was a custodian for eighteen years at Cherry Valley Elementary and worked for twelve years as supervisor of buildings and grounds for Newark City Schools. He was a 1964 graduate of Newark High School and was a member of the Christian Apostolic Church in Newark. Mr. Smith was a car enthusiast and enjoyed going to car shows. He loved children and was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed roller skating and bicycling. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judy (Keaser) Smith; a daughter, Kimberly (Charles) Labora of Arlington, Tex.; a brother, Gilbert (Joanne) Smith of Summit Station; sisters, Helen Belcher of Hamilton, Mary (Oren) Harris of Newark, Linda (Marvin) Antil of Nashport, Judy (Brodie) Newton of Newark, Miriam (Robert) Kridner of Gainesville, Fla.; brothers-in-law, Carl (Linda) Keaser, Jr. of Glenford and William (Pam) Keaser of Newark; sister-in-law, Carlene (Jackie) Hottinger of Newark; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry E. Smith. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 7, at the Newark Chapel of HENDERSON-Van ATTA FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICE, 59 North Fifth Street.
