"Dolly" was my 2nd cousin and Terri Nelson is also a 2nd cousin and 1st to Dolly. She came to Newaygo schools later in the years and probably not too many people knew much about her. She was a very kind and quiet person. My grandparents used to take us to visit when I was young and I had lots of fun with Dolly and all her sisters in their old farmhouse. She had a very big family. As I understand, she lived in Tennessee and had a wonderful husband and great kids that she was dedicated to. She had a good job she liked and was doing so well. She was caught in a bad storm with tornadoes that hit Tenn last year and was unfortunately taken on her way home from work. It was a very sad situation. I will always remember her smile and kindness she showed to me.

My memories of Dolly-
Christmas at the farm (Brigitte was there too. But, ummm...we called her 'Cookie' back then! hehe).
Spending the night in the semi trailer, watching the stars and listening to her and her sisters sing...oh my goodness, they were good. They sang me to sleep.
It WAS a large family! Which meant EVERYone had chores-even guests. After a meal there was a HUGE pile of dishes to be done...ugh! Dolly washed, I dried.
Playing in the barn...hide and seek, swinging from the rafters, jumping in the hay, playing with the old victrola, etc
The 'monster' buffalo head that hung in the stairwell that you had to go by every time you went upstairs to her room-I never took my eyes off that thing...it was scary, okay?
Feeding the chickens.
Getting tractor rides with her from Uncle Don.
She was a big part of my childhood. She was very kind and sweet. As an adult, she was a beautiful woman, a good Mom, a good wife, and a strong Christian. It was very sad how she left us.

I remember reading her obituary....there were so many wonderful things said about her. There was even a website posted about her. She must have made such an impact on the people who knew her.
