In looking back at the 20 years since we graduated, I am bewildered by the many times my life has changed course. Graduating with my degree in Business Management, I worked for several years as an auditor, traveling the country and sucking the fun out of the lives of others. I was more than eager to give up the career path I was headed down to stay home with my son, and eventually two daughters while my husband commuted from the east to west coast while the family business grew exponentially. As the business grew, so did the family and I was now the full time child care provider for my two nieces. With five children filling my every day with carpools, ballet lessons, baseball practice, sailing regattas, girl scouting, and PTA nonsense, I needed to spend quality time with people who did not prefer that I speak in rhyme and whistle while I work. I started a portrait photography business and loved every minute of it. Until one day last spring when I realized t hat my husband spent more time in his west coast apartment than at home in Massachusetts. SO! This past summer, we rented out our houses in MA and NH, sold all non- sentimental possessions, packed a very large truck filled with more stuff than 5 people should ever need, and moved to Northern California. The kids have adjusted beautifully, my husband is home for dinner, and I have returned to school working on my Master of Nursing degree. If all goes well, in 18 months, at the age of 40, I should finally done with school.
