My wife (Julia Bensman) and I, have been blessed with two of the most beautiful children. Addison Virginia Starnes, born on June 2, 2009 @ 1:10am and Alexander Scott Starnes born on June 7, 2011 @ 1:09am.
I am truly thankful of the blessing that we have been given.
We own a beautiful home in Union, Ky along with our 2 dogs and 2 cats. I am the OEM Warranty Manager for the Clarion Corporation of America in Walton, Kentucky. And, I have the most beautiful, caring, loving and intelligent wife any man could ever ask for.
I really do miss spending time with the friends that I shared time with in high school. The only time I get to see many of the old friends is at high school sporting events or at our annual gathering we have each year. I generally have no time to speak with friends at the sporting events, because of officiating the game.
After graduating from high school I married my high school sweetheart Paula Powell ('78) and was married to her until 1986. We both have remained friends still to this day.
During 1986 I experienced the loss of my Father, a divorce, my mother was diagnosed with colon cancer. Thankfully, my Mother survived the cancer and is still alive and continues to live on Liberty Street in Newport.
I attended Northern Kentucky University for a Degree in Aviation Administration and Business Administration. I went to work for Ohio Aviation at Lunken Airport right after college. I continued in aviation as Director of Purchasing until 1991. I then changed my career path with AutoZone Auto Parts. In 1993, I moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan for a little over a year and in 1997, I moved to Boston. Both moves helped AutoZone expand their footprint on the market. I returned from Boston and went to work in 1998 for Advance Auto Parts. All through the years since high school, I have continue to photograph weddings as I have for 35 years. I finally retired from shooting wedding in 2012. I have been very blessed to have won several national awards for my wedding photography in 1996 & 1997. My most prized photographs was named, "The Mafia" and "The Kiss around the Tree".
I started my officiating career in August, 1977 as a high school football official and in November, 1977 as a wrestling official. In 1978, I started officiating high school basketball. In 1983 I gave up wrestling to work more basketball games. From 1983-1991, I officiated Division II Football. From 1983-1997, I officiated Division II Basketball. From 1979 until 2009, I was a Registered Umpire for ASA & USSSA Softball. Since 2001, I have been a USSSA Director for Umpires in Kentucky. In 2009 I started officiating football for the Women's Professional Football League. In 2001, I returned to officiating Kentucky High School football and in 2011 returned to officiating KHSAA basketball. I was selected in 2013, to officiate the KHSAA Football State Championship in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
I wish that time would slow down, but it doesn't. Due to my involvement in Officiating, Umpiring, Volunteering for some different organizations and most importantly the little time I get to spend with my family. It limits my time I have with my valuable friendships and classmates.
I love to build furniture and web-site design as my hobbies. Julia and I are involved in some charity organizations, along with fund raising for N.K.U. and Thomas More College.
In 2001, I married my best friend. Julia Bensman and we have two beautiful children. We both are Certified Foster Parents in the State of Kentucky.
