Coach Roe Memorial

POQUOSON - Dale Evans Roe, 62, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and resident of Poquoson for 30 years, passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born Dec. 19, 1946, in Winchester, the son of Reva Green and the late Hunter Roe. Dale served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and most importantly, a mentor at Denbigh High School in Newport News since 1969.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Cathy Roe of Poquoson; a daughter, Melissa Roe-Jones and husband, Eugene Jr. of Newport News; a son, Brian Roe and wife, Melissa of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandchildren, Jordan Jones and Taylor Jones of Newport News, and one soon-to-be born, Madison Roe of Indianapolis; his mother, Reva Green of Gore; and a brother, Craig Roe of Gore; a father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Eleanor Clarke of Petersburg; a sister-in-law, Carole and husband, Kirby Hart of Petersburg; a host of close family, friends, faculty, coaches, and students.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. tonight, Feb. 24, 2009, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, by Dr. Steve Plymale at Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church, 38 Hoopes Road, Newport News.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Denbigh High School Athletics Fund, "In Honor of Mr. Dale Roe", 259 Denbigh Blvd., Newport News, VA 23608.
