Ronald David Burnette, 80, died Friday (November 17, 2023) at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on January 28, 1943. Ron moved with his family to Great Bend, Kansas and later to Newton, Kansas where he graduated from Newton High School in 1962.

He married Phoebe Duda in the 1970’s in Newton. Even though they divorced in 1985, Phoebe and Ron remained good friends.

He married Theresa D. “Terri” Kiess Serl in 2000 in Wichita. She died on March 29, 2012.

Ron had worked in the Print Shop at Center Industries for the Handicapped in Wichita for several years. 

He was an avid bowler in several leagues through the years with a 200 average. Ron also enjoyed golfing and playing Chess by correspondence. He was also a major supporter of our military. 

Survivors include his sons Dorian Burnette of Memphis, Tennessee along with Mike Serl and wife Jenny of Maize, Kansas; half-brothers Ernie Risinger of Kansas City, Tim Risinger of Wichita, and Gene Risinger of North Carolina; and grandchildren Colten Miller and Paige Stewart.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Patti Burnette.
