
Edward Lewis Thomas II, age 72, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, died Monday, January 2, 2017, at his home. He was born May 4, 1944, in Ft. Scott, the son of Edward L. Thomas and Wilma Ellen Barker Thomas. Ed graduated from the Newton, Kansas High School with the Class of 1962. He later attended Ft. Scott Community College. Ed served with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he received his Dr. of Chiropractor from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He was a member of the Olson Frary Burkhart Post #1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars and a past member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include three sons, Edward Eugene Thomas, of Ft. Scott, Chester Dwayne Thomas, of Killeen, Texas, and Joe Thomas, of Springfield, Missouri, a daughter, Jana Duffy, of South Lake, Texas and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Colleen Charbonneau, of Boynton Beach, Florida, and Glenda Miller and Becky Magee, both of Newton, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
