totally agree with you, elliot. although it's relatively easy to initiate a point & click with a smart phone, it's less apparent how to identify the people or places in the resulting picture. imo, there should be an app on the market which would allow users to identify the people & places. what's less clear, is if pictures can be identified after the fact.

Looking for old photos of Newton High? Your first stop should be the Newton Free Library.

NHS yearbooks, back to 1910, are available online at

Hi All.............

So sorry I missed you @ the reunion. I agree with Elliot about the names. I will do this and then post it.

I just need to know WHO took the photo, so I can get permission to do this........isn't it illegal?????????

Please get back to me! I would be willing even, to send the people in the photo a copy. smiley

Harriet

thanks, ray, for the newton free library site. it's simple to access & easy to maneuver. examined 1965's newtonian, as well as multiple other years. one caveat: the yearbooks that were uploaded were not pristine. therefore, you'll be viewing comments from various classmates as you're flipping through the screens.

A little serendipity at work.... I followed a thought, what ever happened to the classmate that threw the wildest party ever, Freddy Fisher? I found a link online.

The 57th reunion sounds like fun. Unfortunately I won't be there.  But I'm looking forward to the 60th if the planning committee wants to take that on! I'd love to help, though am at a distance.

Hi All:  I received an email containing a survey about a 60th reunion.  I was unable to answer the questions. It simply didn't respond.  I would love to go to a 60th reunion but I'm not sure if this email and rather rough survey are legitimate and really from our Class of 65 committee.  Karen Mackie Donovan

I had the same problem trying to fill out the survey. Please advise. Thank you.

I also had a problem and contacted Tom Rando.  He said send him an email with your answers.

The 60th reunion survey didn't seem to accept my answers.  I would like to come.  An afternoon reunion would be best unless it's held in the Mariott where we could stay the night.  I look forward to seeing you all.

Well, I guess the last time was "the last time". My 77-year-old back is going to be surgically repaired in May, and won't be up to the trip back to Newton for the 60th. Serious bummer. I was so looking forward to the Marriott - former site of Gill Stadium; Auburndale; and an afternoon, so I could get back to the Cape before midnight.

Thanks to the committee that pulled this together. I'll be thinking of all of us, present or not, on the afternoon of June 7th. Maybe an 80th birthday party? I'm in.

Best to all of you/us,

Mike Gradone

Hello Mike,
Good luck with your surgery!
I will not be coming to the reunion either but would hopefully love to celebrate our 80th Birthdays together!

Wow...60 years. Have a great reunion. Sorry, I won't be there.

Won't be able to make the reunion.  After my husband's death last April, I decided to move to the San Francisco Bay area to be near my son.  So on April 2, 2025, I landed at SFO.  Don't think I can take another cross country trip this year!  Maybe next time.

David Arvedon (Arvedon)

Hi Mike,

It's Dave Arvedon, of course, of Williams School fame.  Sorry to hear about your back.  I've been down a parallel road with my right hip.  Good luck with the surgery.

Yes, I remember Gill Stadium and Lyons Field well.  I was the guy who always struck out and dropped fly balls in the outfield.

Remember our principle, Edna Edington?  Well I just wrote a song about her on my last album.  The title is 'Crawlspace,' and it is on Bandcamp.

Of course, it's Dave Arvedon again, a.k.a. Krazy Dave.  Now I wonder how many of you NHS graduates have taken up the game of golf.  Let me see a show of hands.  Perhaps the greatest golfer of all time is Tiger Woods, although Jack Niklaus is also in the conversation.  Now I happen to have a good friend of mine named Tiger who also plays golf.  His name is Tiger Green.  The one difference between Tiger Woods and Tiger Green is that when Tiger Woods hits the ball, it lands on the green.  When Tiger Green hits the ball, it lands in the woods.

Of course, my response number (above) was number 65.  Go figure!

Perhaps class of 1965 music fans might get a kick out of my last trailer video, "Impaled By The Minute Hand" by David Arvedon and The Psychopaths.  Also, "Crawlspace" is a song on the "Meat The Psychopaths" album, and there is mention of several Williams School Alumni, teachers, and Edna Eddington, our former principle who lived on top of the hill adjacent to the junction of route 30 and the Mass Pike, as I believe the street was Doublet Hill Rd.  Alex Wallace would remember.

Don't forget the movie 'City of Mercy,' which was produced by my son Andy Arvedon, who played the part of a police officer, Frank something or other.  These days, the memory is not all there, so I shall try to be at the reunion if I remember to look at my calendar, but to me the Marriott will always be Norumbega Park and The Totem Pole Ballroom.

What a fun 60th reunion yesterday.  A lot more people attended than I expected.  It was great to reconnect with former classmates.   The food was excellent and  the Marriott in Newton was the perfect venue. The Committee did a great job and I hope they will follow through with the 80th birthday party idea.  Thanks for all your hard work.  Best to everyone until next time.

p.s. Rich Ryan, thank you for buying me a glass of wine, such a gentleman.

It was great to see OLD faces that I had not seen in centuries.  Top notch job to all on the committee.  You all deserve accolades.  Now I plan on attending the 70th, 80th., and 90th. reunions, and your assignment is to be there as well.  Keep the eye of the TIGER.

Be Well
