Yes, 11 years
I went to undergraduated at American University in Washington DC, and later went to George Washington University, also in Washington DC, for law school.
Washington, DC
Brussels, Belgium
St Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands
After leaving the 'ville in 1989 I went to Washington for university. I had an awesome time at American University from 1989 to graduating in 1993. While there I met my future wife, Kristin. I then worked for 2 years in DC for an environmental advocacy group before going on to law school in 1995. After graduating law school in 1998 I joined the legal profession in Washington, DC, working for 2 major law firms in their antitrust practice groups.
Life took a major change in 2005 when I accepted a job to become the Legal Adviser at the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority ('JCRA') in 2005. The JCRA is the telecommunications and postal regulatory authority and competition law enforcer in Jersey, in the Channel Islands located in between Great Britain and France. My assignment with the JCRA was only supposed to be 3 years, but in late 2007 I became the organisation's Executive Director, which will keep us here through at least 2010.
On more important things, as stated above, Kristin and I have 2 beautiful daughters. My interests remain rooting for Boston-area professional sports teams, plus skiing, kayaking, and cycling. All of these activities are in a somewhat vain attempt to stay in shape in my late 30's!!!
Playing hooky and going to the beach!
Winning the football state championship
Being on the scholar's bowl team and travelling to tournaments
Endless hours hanging out at the field house or in the outfield during baseball practice
Pre-game meals before football games
Wine coolers and Meister Brau
"TPing" friends houses in the middle of the night and then escaping from the Bluewater Bay "Police"
Hosting a pool party over at my folk's house, and then cleaning up all of the excess trash, beer cans, and random bits of clothing the next day
About once every other year or so. My folks still live part of the year in the same house in Bluewater. I personally think the area has changed so much and like the Niceville of '89 much better than the Niceville of '09 -- as they say, the past is a different country!
Unfortunately not -- not many live in the Channel Islands (I think I'm the only one)
1. I have almost no natural athletic ability.
2. I once broke my noise during football practice but didn't realise it until informed by a doctor 6 months later.
3. I have no natural sense of rythem, but I still love to dance, notwithstanding whatever my wife, friends and family say.
4. I have the utterly useless skill of being able to name any world capital
5. I was a varsity cheerleader for one semester in College
