I am grateful for Mr Mike Lake, our guidance counselor. He pointed me towards the Army ROTC scholarship as a means for paying for college. My reaction at the time: well, if I get into the Corps of Engineers, that would be OK for a few years, so, why not give it a try? Obviously, I liked something about the Army well enough to stay well past my 4-year obligation! Actually, the Army has been a great place for me, almost like second family. Thanks, Mr Lake!
