So sad to see this. Alfred was my friend, mainly at Junior High East. Which is to say he sat in front of me in homeroom and we talked a lot. He was truly nice to everybody. I now greatly regret that at that time (we were 13), I was too young and immature to look past a few quirks and see what a truly great human being he was. Apparently he drove buses from graduation to retirement not long ago. He did it with pride, enthusiasm, and a high level of safety, having never had an accident. He was more active on this website than many of us, and I remember being so sad when he shared the news of the death of his infant grandson on his profile here a few years back. I am again here with sadness that we have lost him. May he rest in peace with his grandbaby
He spoke to and befriended everyone he came in contact with.I heartily agree with Dr. Larry. Al was an everyman, never beholden to any single social group.
It's sad that we have lost another 79er way too soon. I remember Al mainly from Jr. High East. He was in many of my classes. As others have said, Al was quiet, unassuming, genuine and kind. He was friendly to everyone. I wish I had gotten to know him better back then. He was just a good, decent, honest guy. We do need more Als in this world. He will be greatly missed and remembered by the lives he touched and all who knew him.
