After high school, I went to college in Tacoma, WA where I earned a teaching degree I no longer use and married the man of my dreams. A surprise pregnancy and change in my hubby's job landed us in a tiny farming town in central WA. Three years and two little boys later, we gave away all our earthly possessions and moved to Swaziland, a small country in Southern Africa. Ready to serve Jesus there for the rest of our lives, we ended up moving back to WA after only 6 months because I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Six months of chemo later, we landed in Olympia, WA where Nate is a youth pastor and I'm a writer and stay-at-home mom. Just as life started to return to normal, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's again. Since it was only 8 months after my previous treatment, I had to move to Seattle to receive an autologous stem-cell transplant in December 2008. Now we're living life, hoping to actually have a normal year!
