Growing up with Chuck, there was always something about him I couldn't pinpoint. Something great. I cannot recall one time where he ever degraded another, unless it was one of us during a pickup basketball, whiffleball or baseball game. Then, it was his great sense of humor coming out. After he became a Pastor, it all made sense. His destiny was to encourage and lead, regardless of what "group" one belonged to in middle and high school. Memories of him, Chuck Richmond, George Ziebro and I playing our backyard game of KZCR, a combo of rugby, hurdles, high jump and football are so vivid in my mind. His intense competitiveness and clean play were a model to us, although we probably never acknowledged it as 12-16 year olds. Like the others on this list, Chuck passed much too soon.
