George A. Ziebro, 59, of Chittenango, passed away Thursday at University Hospital with family by his side. He was born in Scranton, PA, on September 19, 1952, to the late Irene (Magdon) and George E. Ziebro. He moved to the Syracuse area as a child and was a resident of Chittenango for 23 years.

He was employed as an accountant with New Process Gear (Chrysler Corporation) for 30 years, retiring in 2005. He was the founder and first president of UAW Local #2149 and in charge of Chrysler executive lease cars.

An avid golfer, George was a member of Pompey Club and a PGA rules official. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed going to the auction regularly, bowling, fishing, cooking and entertaining family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Ursula; a son, Jason Ziebro of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter, Tania (Brian) Gardner of Chittenango; two stepdaughters, Sharon (John) Sommers of Pennellville and Patricia Peek Bounab of Chittenango; a stepson, Norbert Peek of Baldwinsville; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012, at G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. Calling hours will be noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
