Mike and I wrestled on the SUNY Morrisville Team during our freshman year. I'll never forget the time, right after the regional tournament at Corning, my parents drove us back to Morrisville, and the first thing Mike said when he got in the car was "Mr. Von Pless, do you have a cigarette?"
Mike quit wrestling and got into politics, becoming President of the Student Government Organization during our Senior year.
He was quite a character and a good guy to party with!!!
I first met "Mick" while working as a caddy at Lakeshore Country Club back when we were 13 years old. Once while on a foursome with him, his guy threw a fit and shot his club into the water. He looked at Mike and said "go get that!" Mike looked at him and said, and I guote, "GO F... YOURSELF!" Everyone just stood there for a second and then we all started laughing! Him and I had a standing foursome with those members the rest of the summer every weekend! Another time he got hit by a drive by standing on the first tee. The ball knocked him right around in a circle and knocked him down. He jumped up and flipped the member off and stormed off telling the guy that he was not carrying for him until he learned how to play better! There were some other colorful adjectives sprinkled in with his mumbling! Mike was never one to hold back and I'm glad I knew him and I think of him often! He was one of a kind!
We shared many adventures as kids growing up together and as John Vincent said he was quite colorful. We hung out together right up to his passing.Boy,there's hardly a day that goes by that I don't think of him.He was the best. :( Died in 1981
