Most of us will remember how Fred loved music and how radio was his passion. Fred passed away on March 4, 2008. I attended the Celebration of Life service for Fred in Liverpool. Fred hosted the Saturday Night Oldies Party on Y94 radio in the 1980's before moving to Erie, PA. He gained popularity and respect from many people throughout his career and he had a great impact on other stations such as WBEE, WGNA, WYNY, WRUN and WXTA. At his service I had the opportunity to say a few words about Fred and our school days. He was such a great guy and will be missed by many. We will be remembering you, my friend, at our reunion and always.

I lived up the street from Fred,I remember his basement,he had 45's all over in stacks and a mike hanging there, always playing radio DJ,which we all know was his passion. I think Fred had more of a beard in 7th grade than most of our male teachers did.

Fred loved his music. He and I hung around each other in the blurry high school years. He tried to manage a band I was in with Mike McLaughlin, Paul Burgay, Tony Pera, Danny Krupka. We didn't play very well but we sure had a good time. I had a chance to have breakfast with Fred after the reunion party at Hafners in 1990 - so good to see him. He was always having fun and always talking about music. He was a great guy and I would have loved to have seen him again next year - but not to be. I will miss him much.

I remember that Fred had the greatest radio voice. We had a lot of 'Hey, Number One times' on the radio; he was a great guy and a lot of fun and a real regular guy. One less great heart is beating in the world...
