John Pennock

PENNOCK, John Charles (Age 58) Ended his seven year battle with cancer on April 22, 2010 and was welcomed into heaven by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for a well deserved rest and celebration of a lifedevoted to family and service. Born to Carl and Vivian Pennock on December 28, 1951 in Syracuse, NY as the firstborn son of five children. John graduated from Cicero High School in 1970. He was the first Eagle Scout and founding member of Troop 117. In 1974, he graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy. John served in the Air Force from 1974 to 1991 as: a personnel officer, base commander'sexecutive officer and physician. He was awarded: the Meritorious Service Award, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award,National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Small Arms ExpertMarksmanship Ribbon and Jump Wings. He served a tour in South Korea and served in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. He was the proud and loving father of Keith (1977) and Nathan Pennock (1980). He was a strong, loving and supportive husband to Jan whom hemarried June 7, 1974. John received his Doctorate of Medicine in 1980 from the University of Oklahoma. He served as a family physician and family practice residencyfaculty at Carswell AFB, TX. He practiced family medicine with Group Health Northwest and Northpointe Family Medicine in Spokane, WA. From 1998 to 2003 he served at the Spokane Veterans Medical Center as a primary care physician. John served as a Boy Scout leader in Troop 321 in Richland Hills, TX and Troop 80 in Colbert, WA where he enjoyed friendships and many outdooradventures. John was involved and remained interested in men's Bible study andservice ministries and missionary activities both at church and in hispersonal life. He is survived by his wife, two sons, mother, father, two sisters and three brothers.
